Labor Defense Group Union Leader Training

Tuesday, September 15, 2026

Description

Public Safety Union Leadership

This full-day training hosted by the Labor Defense Group will take place the day before the Fall General Membership Meeting and is a great opportunity to sharpen your knowledge of labor rights, strengthen your role in the union, and hear directly from respected legal and union experts in the field. Labor Defense Group Attorney, Erica Shelley Nelson, and LDG President Dave Dunkin will be presenting on various topics including member rights and the role of union representatives in administrative investigations and discipline and the bargaining obligations that may arise during the process.  The training will include discussion on investigations of lethal force incidents, and attorney and union representation during these incidents, in addition to emerging labor law issues specific to law enforcement arising in the last few years along with best practices for addressing those issues.  The training will be interactive and allow your representatives the opportunity to ask questions, discuss hypotheticals or scenarios, and work through sticky issues that arise in the workplace.  We are excited to have you join us!
